WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY IN MAYWomen’s Bible Study in May – Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore, is the true story of the unlikely, and life-changing friendship between a wealthy Texas art dealer and a down-and-out homeless man.  Their inspirational story crosses the boundaries of society and depicts the heart of God and His transforming power of love.  This 5 week study meets Tuesdays at 6:30pm, and continues through May 29th. Discussion will feature videos by the authors and focus on the topics of faith, forgiveness, loving the unlovable, prayer, and blessing vs. serving. Join in any week!  Invite a friend! Questions? Contact Melissa Idleman at 469-2786 or

Members of Prince of Peace and any friends who would like to come will be meeting at 6:00 p.m. at Salt and Light (1819 S. Philo Road, Urbana) on the last Tuesday of each month to volunteer.  Salt and Light provides food, clothing, specialized job training, and counseling to families in need in Champaign County.  Go their website

In May, our “Eat, Pray, Cards” group will meet twice, on Wednesday, May 9th, and Wednesday, May 23rd.   All are invited to come!  We meet in the newly revamped Sunday School room for a light brunch, a brief devotion led by Pastor Seth, and a highly competitive round of cards.  We start at 10:00 a.m.  Hope to see you there!

WOMEN'S COFFEE AND PRAYER:  Need a midweek dose of powerful prayer?  How about support from other women who are ready to listen?  All women are invited to Geschenk Coffee and Tea Haus, 228 East Lincoln, in St. Joseph, on Wednesdays at 7:00 a.m.  Each week we'll hear a word of scripture, pray together and inspire one another for a new day--all while sharing delicious morning coffee or tea--and you'll still be in time for work or school!  See you there!

Ten Prince of Peace confirmation students will publicly affirm their baptism at worship on Sunday, May 6th.  For the past two years these students have been engaged in a regular discipline of prayer, bible study, classroom discussion and service activities.  We should be very proud of them (and their parents) for their work and commitment!  Please keep our confirmands in your prayers, that they will continue to build their lives on the Rock, Jesus Christ our Risen Lord.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL LEADERS NEEDED!  Please sign up on the list in the narthex to help with our Vacation Bible School—“Shipwrecked”— the week of July 30-August 3!  We need volunteers to serve in the following roles:
-Station Leaders (Teachers/Leaders for Bible Stories, Games, Crafts, and Music)
-Crew Leaders (Chaperones for the rotating groups)
-Food Service Preparation
-Audio Visual, Photography
-Decorations and Building Prep

Today, a child needs you to help release them from poverty.  Each one of us has the opportunity to respond to this call at Prince of Peace in the next few weeks.  Visit the Compassion sponsorship table in the narthex, where you can view packets showing boys and girls who need a sponsor right now.  This is your opportunity to release a child from poverty in Jesus’ name.  You will give them a future and hope through the loving intervention of a Christ-centered program run by a local church in their neighborhood.  For more information, contact Pastor Seth Jersild (217.255-2118) or visit

THANK YOU TO OUR PRINCE OF PEACE VOLUNTEERS SERVING CHRIST!  Check out the display in the narthex listing the results of our recent Prince of Peace Time and Talent survey.  We are incredibly blessed by God to have so many people who are willing to perform all the jobs that make a church family vibrant, healthy, welcoming and caring!  If you did not fill out a time and talent form, you will find them on the table in the narthex.  Just fill one out and hand it in with your offering, or bring it to the church office.  Or, you can write your name directly on the display sheets in the narthex.  God needs us all to be actively engaged in his ministry!  Praise be to him for all the faithful people at Prince of Peace who are willing to volunteer themselves to his ministry!

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GATHERINGS take place in the youth room every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  Check the "Youth" page for updates!

Demand is high, and food supplies for the pantry are often stretched.  Bring your canned and non-perishable goods to the boxes in the breezeway entrance (near the church offices).  Your donations will be a blessing to families in need in our community!
